About the Exhibition

Hanes Art Gallery is thrilled to be the ninth stop of this nationwide touring exhibition, Young, Gifted and Black. This exhibition elevates an emerging generation of contemporary artists who are engaging with the work of their predecessors while finding new and different ways to represent the Black experience. Kara Walker, Kerry James Marshall, Mickalene Thomas, Tomashi Jackson, Eric N. Mack, Troy Michie, Jennifer Packer, Paul Mpagi Sepuya and Tunji Adeniyi-Jones are among nearly 50 artists featured in this traveling exhibition drawn from the renowned private collection of Bernard I. Lumpkin and Carmine D. Boccuzzi.
