Painting ≠ Photography
New Acquisitions and Selections
WFU Student Union Art Collection of Contemporary Art
September 9 – october 20, 2013
In sections anchored by the photographic works purchased by students last spring, Painting ≠ Photography explores three themes in the Student Union Collection as a whole: the shift from large-scale paintings to large-scale photographs; images that call attention to their constructed nature as a means of questioning the assumed objectivity of the camera; and works in both painting and photography that embody intuitive or chance-based processes.
