Alexandra Davenport

Stop Motion: in search of the still image

FEBRUARY 4 – MARCH 31, 2019

MEZZANINE GALLERY

Hanes Art Gallery will be hosting London-based artist, Alexandra Davenport, for a solo exhibition in our upstairs (mezzanine) gallery. Signalling back to her history in dance, her practice uses performance, writing, moving image and the photographic as strategies to explore the ‘choreography’ of image-making. There are clear references in her work to the history and science of photography as well as anatomy.

Davenport will be in residence at Wake Forest University February 27 – March 6, 2019, and will give a public artist talk on March 1 at 5:30pm.

Curator

Katie Wolf, in collaboration with the artist, with funding from the Office of the Provost
